LATEST CHRIS
LARSEN '05 PROGRESS REPORT
Readers of this page
will know that 1LT
Christopher Larsen '05 was
wounded in Iraq on Friday,
August 17. Both his hands
were injured seriously.
When visiting Ft. Hood on
December 2, your editor was
pleased to run into Chris
and his wife Jessica, who
had come up from Brooke Army
Medical Center (BAMC) in San
Antonio to welcome Ben
Harrow and Chris Couch, both
'05, home from Iraq (see
story and photo at
Army Lax Alumni).
Chris’s
recovery is going very well
and as you can see in the
photo, he is as upbeat as
anyone who knows him would
expect. He still has another
six to eight months of
rehabilitation ahead of him,
mostly at BAMC. Chris’s left
hand has recovered
essentially full function,
though it is still weak and
sore. His right hand and
wrist are still healing from
multiple surgeries and
grafts. The prognosis is
good. Although his range of
motion is still very
restricted, once the healing
is completed he will begin regaining full use
of the hand. It will be a
long and painful process,
but anyone who knows Chris
knows he will succeed fully.
As regards Fischer House,
Mark Larsen, Chris's dad, encourages
everyone to consider making
a donation. He writes that
Fischer House, "... allows
parents/spouses to stay next
to the hospital ... without
any financial worries ..."
and "does so much to help
these young hurt people get
better quicker by allowing
their families to be with
them." Click on
Fischer House to

website.
